Hello esteemed colleagues and readers! It’s our one year anniversary this month of Dental Forward magazine production. On behalf of the Dental Forward editorial team, we would like to convey our utmost appreciation to the dental fraternity of Malaysia for all the generous support ever since. As we also celebrate Independence Day this month, let us embrace the spirit of unity and honor the hardships endured by those who came before us, recognizing how far they have brought our country and the people of Malaysia.

Along with the spirit, I am honored to write a few words for this edition of Dental Forward magazine, themed “Hard work, hustle, and grind,” focusing on the hardships and tribulations that have brought us to where we are today. Many of us clinicians have additional passions and interests outside of dentistry, some of which have reached a professional level and some may have even generated side income. This has been an eye-opener for our editorial team, showcasing the dedication of our colleagues and how they excelled in multiple areas. The phrase “hustle and grind” truly resonates with this edition.

I would like to highlight our cover story by Associate Prof. Dr. Mohd Haikal, The Dean of Kulliyyah of Dentistry, IIUM in Kuantan. He shares his journey through life’s challenges and how he overcame them to reach his current position. Each story in this edition is a testament to how life’s difficulties shape us and lead us in new directions.

This edition also covers many events from May to August which involves collaboration between the stakeholders. I want to extend my gratitude to our principals and distributors for their unwavering support, which has allowed us to grow with each edition. I am also excited to announce our partnership with The Dental Tribune Newspaper International where we will be part of the ASEAN Edition, starting in August 2024. This partnership will feature clinical articles from our colleagues throughout the ASEAN region, including case reports, research, patents, new findings, and case discussions.

We are embarking on an exciting journey with Dental Forward as a lifestyle magazine and Dental Tribune Newspapers providing clinical articles to fulfill the reading needs of our clinicians. A special thanks to my editorial team and the creative team with the many ideas that we bounced throughout the production of each edition, thank you very much.
