Dental Forward Magazine was honoured to be a media partner at the MiCD Train the Trainer program jointly organised by the MiCD (Minimally Invasive Cosmetic Dentistry) Global network and Shofu Dental Asia Pacific on March 22- 23, 2024.
This exclusive regional event brought together a select group of 25 skilled clinicians, from across Asia, to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where Dr. Ronnie Yap of Singapore and Dr. Anand Narvekar of India, held a two-day, guided, intensive training on Minimally invasive cosmetic dentistry focussed on direct restorations at The Dental Academy. Shofu, an industry partner of the MiCD Global network since its inception, has been committed to supporting the MiCD philosophy and the global network, through education and the continued innovation of dental technologies that fulfil the needs of the dental team in providing minimally invasive holistic dental care.
The MiCD Train the Trainer Program encompassed a comprehensive training on the MiCD philosophy and treatment protocols using bioactive composites. This would enable the select group of clinicians to advocate the MiCD philosophy among their peers and share their knowledge through lectures as well as hands-on workshops in their respective countries. Participants hailed from various countries, including Iraq, Singapore, Indonesia, Myanmar, Cambodia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Bangladesh, Malaysia and Nepal.
The two-day training began with an introductory lecture by Dr. Ronnie Yap, covering the MiCD principles and program goals. This was followed by a hands-on session on Class IV restoration. Uniquely, the instructor not only guided the participants on how to treat Class IV restorations, using the MiCD protocol but also provided insights to conducting a smooth hands-on workshop and effectively using the materials.
On the second day, Dr. Anand, an avid photographer, provided an in-depth training on dental photography with valuable tips on how to capture useful images for lectures and documentation. This was followed by a guided training on Class II restoration and concluded with a Q&A session. The group activity was a key highlight, that offered tips and tricks on becoming proficient speakers, trainers and key opinion leaders. The program had a significant impact on all participants from across the region, who gained invaluable insights from the experiences of the experts and their fellow clinicians.
