On 21 July 2024, the Malaysian Dental Association (MDA) Eastern Zone, in collaboration with the IMAM Response & Relief Team (IMARET), conducted a significant Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative in Kampung Betanak, Pulau Bruit, Sarawak. This initiative, held from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, aimed to provide essential medical and dental services to the local community.
Seventy-one patients from the Pulau Bruit area participated in this event, which included both adults and children. The activities provided were comprehensive, ensuring a holistic approach to health care. Medical check-ups and dental check-ups were conducted to identify and address any health issues among the community members. Dental services such as fillings, extractions, scaling, and fluoride varnish application were also provided to improve oral health.
In addition to these services, the initiative included a toothbrushing drill to educate the community on proper oral hygiene practices. Furthermore, medical and dental talks (ceramah) were conducted to raise awareness about the importance of maintaining good health and hygiene.
This collaborative effort between MDA Eastern Zone and IMARET highlights their commitment to improving the well-being of underserved communities. By bringing essential health services to Kampung Betanak, they have made a positive impact on the lives of the residents, promoting better health and hygiene practices for a healthier future.
