Asia Pacific Dental Federation was established in 1955 in Tokyo, Japan, the Asia Dental Congress, precursor to the Asia Pacific Dental Federation. Over the years it officially affiliated with the World Dental Federation (FDI) and evolved into Asia Pacific Dental Federation/Asia Pacific Regional Organization (APDF/APRO). The double name reflects its commitment to representing the vast Asia Pacific region and serving as the official regional representative of FDI.
APDF/APRO has four standing commissions focusing on the important aspects of dentistry in this region.
The commission are on Public Dental Health, Oral Diseases, Dental Education and Defence Forces Dentistry.
This year the 45th Asia Pacific Dental Congress (APDC) took place in Taipei, Taiwan from May 2nd to May 5th, 2024.

B) Dr Kathiravan (Alternative Delegate)
C) Dr Jonathan (Alternative Delegate)
There were other Malaysians who came as speakers for this event.

We also had representatives from Uitm who took part in poster presentations.
*Dr Lim Chiew Wooi (past president of MDA) contested in the vice president post and lost.
*Dr Thomas Abraham contested for the editor post and lost.
We managed to sign MOU with Indonesian Dental Association for close cooperation in the future.
Dr Lim Chiew Wooi also gave a presentation on status of Dentistry in Malaysia in the NDA forum.
A total of 1500 delegates from around Asia Pacific Region Came to this conference. Next year conference is planned in Manila, Philippines. It was planned for us to bid 2027 conference to be held in Malaysia. However, we will get permission from the general body in AGM before we proceed with the bid as mentioned by Dr Lim.
We also took this opportunity to promote our MIDEC in August 2024 in this conference.
